Western Redcedars thrive in the damp, swampy characteristics of riparian ecosystems, and this grove of large redcedars is no exception. This ecological community of Western redcedars and sword ferns is rated imperiled/vulnerable (S2S3) in BC because of rarity due to very restricted range, very few populations (often 20 or fewer), steep declines, or other factors making it very vulnerable to extirpation from British Columbia. It also has a blue listing with BC List, meaning it’s an ecosystem of “concern”.
